Kind of like going to a movie, and before you can go in you must give up 30 names and addresses to the attendant, so you can enter. So against their will, you basically give them up. Now, some may not care either, but I would think others do want to keep their privacy, and maybe want nothing to do with Google for example. When you give out all your contacts to Skype or Google, or whatever, you also are making a decision for all of them to be listed in their advertising campaigns and who knows what else. Having a shared architecture could be an early sign that a merger is coming. Windows Live Messenger relies on Microsoft’s Messenger service - the same service that is already being used to support Skype. Microsoft may be working to completely retire Windows Live Messenger (formerly named MSN Messenger) in the coming months, with plans to integrate the service into Skype, reports the Verge.Īn official announcement revealing this change could come as soon as this week, although Microsoft has yet to confirm or deny anything. This decision would make quite a lot of sense, if true, as Microsoft has been in the process of retiring the entire Windows Live brand for months.
